Much Asphalt started its journey in 1965 with the opening of an asphalt production facility in Cape Town. Today we own and operate 19 plants in South Africa, Namibia and Mozambique, each with its own quality control laboratory.
Two more plants, serving the Eastern Cape Province from East London and Mthatha, are operated by East Coast Asphalt, in which Much Asphalt is the majority shareholder.
Remote projects are supplied from mobile plants, enabling Much Asphalt to provide comprehensive coverage from coast to coast and into neighbouring countries.
SprayPave, a South African manufacturer of bitumen, modified binders and emulsions for road construction, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Much Asphalt operating out of plants in Alrode, Gauteng, Durban and Cape Town.
Much Asphalt is also a key shareholder and board member of Specialised Road Technologies (SRT), which serves as a technical partner providing specialised testing of bituminous binders and asphalt produced by Much Asphalt and its subsidiaries.
